Puggles
They are a cross-breed between a
pug and a beagle. At maturity they can weigh about
20-25 lbs. and stand 13-15" at the shoulders. There
colors can range from completely black, to multicolored
and fawn colored with a black mask on the face. They
have longer noses and floppy ears due to inheriting from
the beagle.
History of the Puggle
Puggles are not yet recognized by
any major kennel club, such as AKC or ACA. The puggle
became a love of people everywhere in the year 2005.
And quickly became what is called a "designer dog". The
puggle is widely loved because of their cuteness,
personality, and their smaller size.
Temperament of the Puggle
Puggles are good dogs for
apartment living but they still need plenty of
exercise. They are full of life and love to play, which
sometimes can make it complicated for training purposes,
but on the same token, they will curl up in your lap and
take a nap. They have hunting abilities due to having
the beagle mix. The Puggles tend not to be barkers
but ever dog is different as we all know. They are
great with children and other animals
Health of the Puggle
With the pug being crossed with
the beagle their skulls are larger making more room for
the eyes. They have longer legs, and not as many
wrinkles. Wrinkles can be hazardous due to the fact
that an infection can form in between the wrinkles.
Pugs can have difficulty with having hear strokes being
their nasal cavity is shorter, so by them inheriting the
beagle nose helps with keeping them cooler in the hot
summer days.
Shedding
Puggles are not hypo allergenic
dogs.
